My Name is Matt Marcinek, I’m 28 years old and I’m a Grappler
OK, OK, maybe I don’t go to meetings or anything like that but The combat sports ( Judo, Gracie Jiu-jitsu and wrestling) are my addiction in life.
It all started in High School, I had always wanted to wrestle since I was in the sixth grade but surgeries and other things always seemed to derail my plans. So, in one of those “now or never moments” I joined the wrestling team my SR. year. I was instantly hooked. Unfortunately, due to a short sighted Administrator at the school, I was never afforded the opportunity to compete in an actual match.
Wrestling had lit my competitive fire though, and it wasn’t going to be extinguished. I eventually found Judo and took to it with the same, if not more, passion that I had for wrestling. Before the rule changes in 2009, I competed on a monthly basis and still travel the country attending tournaments, camps, and clinics in order to improve.
Most days you can find me at Scranton MMA, where I am the asst. kids Judo and jiu-jitsu instructor, a second degree brown belt in judo, and a blue belt in Gracie Jiu-jitsu
Oh yeah, you’re probably wondering about the whole “Disabled” part of Disabledgrappler.com right?
That’s fair.
Nine months into my life I was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, I can’t walk. Some might wonder why I waited this long to mention this, but to me, it’s simple, it’s not that big a deal. I don’t like to use it as an excuse or let it stop me from doing what I love to do.
I hope you enjoy the blog, please feel free to contact me or leave comments whenever you feel like
Thanks for stopping by,
Matt.
