“Don’t ‘Dis’ Your abilities” seminar series”
Seminar Topics can be adjusted to fit a wide variety of audiences. They can include such themes as:
Disability Awareness:
Kids and students: Growing up with cerebral palsy, I know how difficult it can be to integrate into a group of kids while having a disability. So, I feel it’s important to talk to kids about inclusion, how people with disabilities aren’t “scary” or “different” and that they should be treated like any other classmate.
Teachers and Administrators: As intimidating as it might be for a student to be in a class, it might even be as or more intimidating for the teacher to teach that student. This seminar will detail some of my experiences growing up with teachers from Kindergarten through college and covers some Important “do’s” and “don’ts” for Educators when teaching disabled students.
Other Disabled people: I’m not going to Sugarcoat anything, living with a disability is not easy, it’s not always fun, and to be honest, some days it absolutely SUCKS! But what it is not is a death sentence. This seminar will discuss the negatives and the positives (yes, there are positives) of having a disability and how to deal with being disabled.
Teams /Athletes:
One of my favorite things to do is talk to teams and athletes about the power of perseverance. The topic of this seminar focuses on reaching your potential as a team and an individual and overcoming adversity to become successful
