Stop being a waste of legs

July 14, 2016 Whenever I’m on the mat and I see someone take multiple rounds of sparring off or half ass their way through drills, I want to go up to them, shake them and scream “DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT YOU’RE WASTING RIGHT NOW?!” It pisses me off. Why? Because I know, that if you put my heart and my mind in their body I’m a world champion. I don’t write that for pity. I don’t write that for you to have some type of “Awe Matty moment”, because I’m doing pretty good playing the cards that I was dealt but here’s the deal.. You’re not. I don’t think you realize what I would give to be able to show up to train and actually be able to grip the mat with my feet and perform takedowns, and guard passes the way that you can, or to throw a kick or a punch the way that you do, hell I would give anything to be able to roll out a bed, put my feet on the floor and walk to my fridge to grab a drink but I don’t have that opportunity You do. So why are you wasting it? If you want that college scholarship, if you want to be a world champion, if you want to make it to the UFC… You can. But just like my body, my disability, is the thing that inhibits me from reaching a level that I want reach, your mind is inhibiting you from achieving what you want You don’t believe that any of those are possible, or realistic so you don’t try or  you don't try as hard as you possibly can. However, there is good news. As much as I would love to be able to wake up tomorrow and throw my wheelchair in the trash that’s not going to happen but you can wake up tomorrow and start changing your mindset and  finally start reaching the potential that has always been in you. This is the reason why I am so passionate about being a “peak performance” coach, I know what it’s like to have something hold me back and block me from fully and completely doing the things I want to do each day. Unfortunately, at least for the moment no one can reach inside me and remove those barriers, but I can help you clear the mental barriers and put a plan together to help you realize your highest potential and However, if we never work together, or you never hear me do a motivational speech somewhere, I still want you ask you to take a look at your day, your goals, and ask yourself “am I giving everything I have to my dreams or am I just being a waste of legs?
